Role: UI Designer
Overview: ALCON is an internal SaaS tool developed for Bancolombia’s finance teams to detect, justify, and reconcile accounting irregularities. It centralizes data from multiple sources and automates monthly certification processes with traceable, role-based workflows.
Problem: The original interface was dense, text-heavy, and hard to navigate for non-technical users. Finance teams were overwhelmed by the number of open tasks and lacked clarity on accountability and deadlines.
Design goals: Improve usability and visual hierarchy, reduce cognitive load for finance users, make certifications and alerts more actionable, align the UI with Bancolombia.com digital design languageReference Bancolombia’s digital design language while maintaining flexibility for future white-label implementations.
The original interface was designed primarily by developers, with little consideration for hierarchy, spacing, or end-user behavior. It presented large blocks of unstructured information, resulting in confusion and slower task completion for finance users.

After
In the redesign, I focused on improving layout clarity, introducing visual hierarchy, and aligning interaction patterns across screens. The updated prototype was validated through a video call with end users, where they walked through key flows and provided feedback. We used these insights to reassess specific components and iterate quickly based on real-world usage.
